Cassini Cloud Offering

As mentioned in yesterdays email broadcast, Cassini Cloud will be offering a paid service to Ostendo sites and Partners wishing to migrate to Update 243 (Continuum Edition).

Cassini Cloud has developed a fully managed, cloud-based infrastructure to support the Ostendo Remote Database option. 

The Cassini Cloud service is called "Ostendo Database Service". Cassini Cloud has developed an Ostendo Partner portal designed so Ostendo partners can add customers to the Ostendo Database Service and manage those customers. The Partner portal allows Ostendo partners to upload Ostendo databases as required and to download the client.config file that is required to connect Ostendo to the correct database in the Cassini Ostendo Database Service. 

If any Ostendo partner is interested in the Cassini Cloud Ostendo Database server go to https://odbs.cassinicloud.com.au  where you can request a partner account be created. You will then be able to test the new Ostendo remote database option using the Cassini Cloud service. This service is provided Free of Charge to Ostendo Partners.


Pricing:

The Ostendo Database Service will cost AUD20 per concurrent user per month (same number of licences as the Ostendo application).
eg: The annual cost of a 5 user site would be AUD1,200

The commitment from the customer is a 30 day rolling basis.

Included in the management of the ODBS is:

  • Daily backup of the customer databases (7 day rolling basis)
  • Monthly backup of the customer databases (3 month rolling basis)
  • Monthly optimisation of all customer databases
  • Management and monitoring of the database servers

Here is a screenshot from the Ostendo Database Service where a partner can upload a database backup file and download the clientconfig file.

Unfortunately the syntax was stated incorrectly when installing and starting the service for both Method 1 and 2
  • Run the following. instsvc install -auto -guardian -name fb_5
  • Run the following. instsvc start -name fb_5
