Continuum - Ostendo Remote Database Service Update - 2026.1.1.467

We have recently released a new version of the Remote Database Service to complement changes introduced in Ostendo Continuum Build 284.

This update should be applied to all Remote Database Servers hosting Ostendo Continuum databases.

Update Procedure

Important: Perform this update outside normal working hours and ensure that no users are connected to the database before proceeding.

1. Stop the Following Services

  • Ostendo API Service
  • Ostendo Queue Service
  • Remote Database Service
  • Firebird Guardian Service
  • Firebird Server Service (NB: Refresh the Services screen to ensure both the Guardian and Server have actually stopped. Also check Task Manager -> Details to ensure Firebird.exe and FBGuard.exe are no longer running) 

2. Install the Updated Remote Database Service

  1. Launch Ostendo Database Server Configuration.
  2. Navigate to the Utility Updates tab.
  3. Select the Remote Database Service entry.
  4. Confirm that the Installed Version differs from the Available Version.
  5. Click Action and select Download and Install.
  6. Wait for the installation to complete and verify that the Installed Version is: 2026.1.1.467

3. Restart Services

Once the update has been installed, restart the following services in order:

  1. Firebird Guardian Service
  2. Firebird Server Service
  3. Remote Database Service
  4. Ostendo API Service
  5. Ostendo Queue Service
  6. Log onto Ostendo normally to confirm Ostendo is now accessible.

Completion

The Remote Database Service update is now complete and the server can be returned to normal operation.
