Firebird Version Update – 5.0.4A new version of Firebird (v5.0.4) has recently been released. This version addresses several security issues. We therefore recommend upgrading from Firebird 5.0.3 to 5.0.4 for use with Continuum. Note: This update applies only to Ostendo Continuum Edition (Update 243).
Pre-Upgrade PreparationBefore proceeding with the upgrade, ensure you make copies outside of the Firebird 5 folder of the following files: Security5.fdbFirebird.conf
Determine Your Upgrade ScenarioThe upgrade method depends on your current environment:
- Download and run the 64-bit Windows executable installer
- Ensure backups of
Security5.fdb and Firebird.conf are complete - Stop all Firebird services (including the Ostendo API Service) on the server
- Run the installer and:
- Select “Copy Firebird client library to <system> directory”
- This installs both 32-bit and 64-bit client DLLs (required for remote DB and API services)
- Once installation is complete:
- Restore
Security5.fdb and Firebird.conf to their original locations
- Restart all services
- Download the 64-bit ZIP kit (manual/custom install)
- Ensure backups of
Security5.fdb and Firebird.conf are complete - Stop all Firebird services (including the Ostendo API Service) on the server
