Validating and Repairing a Corrupt database

This document describes the process of Database Validation and Repairing. It should be run directly on the host machine.

Partners have the same tools available to them as Development-X. If the database is still corrupt after performing the DOS level gfix commands (Refer attachment) you may need to enlist the services of a specialised Firebird Database recovery expert like IB Surgeon, failing this you will need to restore a clean backup of the database.

IB Surgeon have tools to diagnose issues and also to potentially resolve them. They have a free initial diagnostic tool available allowing you to determine the scope of the problem.
If their tool indicates the problem can be repaired, this tool can be purchased and used to recover the database. Alternatively you can enlist their services to attempt to recover the data for you.

Initially you could download their Free tool https://ib-aid.com/en/ibsurgeon-firstaid/ to determine where the issue lies and also the scope of the issue.
