What types of devices will run Freeway?
1) The recommended device size ranges from 4.5 - 12 inches (for Smartphones through to Tablets)
2) The device must be running no less than Android V9.
3) The device must Not have an Intel Atom Processor
As with any Hardware device they will eventually become outdated. Further to this you should be aware that there are 'Propriety' versions of Android. This means that the hardware manufacturer controls the content of the Operating System used on their device. This can lead to a situation where an Android Version on one device may work but not on another device, despite the Android version being at a required level for Freeway. Freeway has been designed to run with the Standard Android Specifications, however individual Hardware manufacturers who might use their own proprietary Android Build may not choose to build in some features/specs that Freeway or other apps require to run.
Generally speaking the higher spec'd Tablets from a main stream manufactures will remain valid for longer than a 'cheaper' device from a lesser brand.
It should also be noted that the Tablet market is quite different from the PC / Notebook type market. Tablets are more of a 'consumable' device, therefore they can be outdated quicker than a PC of a certain spec.
Our advice is to try running Freeway before you buy and ensure you are buying a current device with the latest OS. Beware of old device models as they may not run Freeway. Also, note that just because the device maybe sold as brand new today, that it maybe running an older version of Android. If so, check that this version can be upgraded to the current Android version in the marketplace at the time, otherwise there could be a limitation of its usability for Freeway and other apps.
Google Play store also controls what software apps can be run on specific devices irrespective of the Android Build. This is beyond the control of Development-X. We can only ensure that Freeway runs on the most current Standard Android operating system version.
IOS - (Apple)
This currently does not suffer from the same issues as the Android market.
