By default, all triggers in an Ostendo database should always be turned 'On'.
Using Ostendo when Triggers have been detected as 'Turned Off' will potentially corrupt and damage the integrity of the database beyond repair. Therefore if this message is displayed upon logging into Ostendo the following action must be taken immediately.
- Advise all users to exit Ostendo immediately
- Advise the Consulting Partner for the site immediately for them to take action.
- Log into Ostendo and Press OK to acknowledge the Warning Message
- Go to File -> Active Connections and press the Get Connections button to ensure you are the only user logged onto Ostendo
- Download the Attached Command Script and Run it (File -> System Configuration _>Run Command Script)
- Log out of Ostendo
- Log into Ostendo and check to ensure you are not presented with this Warning Message again
What Causes this Message?
Typically this is caused when a user is in the process of performing a Global Name Change or a Data Merge. These processes initially turn off all database triggers and then update the necessary data. Then at the end of the routine, all Triggers are turned back on.
If in the coarse of this process, the connection to the database is interrupted eg: power failure, network problem or the user terminating Ostendo via Task Manager, this will result in some if not all triggers being left Inactive (turned off).
As a precautionary measure, ensure any users who run these routines are aware of this to ensure the database remains stable.
